Dong Fang Hong 1 was China's first satellite to be launched into orbit. This was launched on the CZ-1 rocket on April 24th 1970.

Our 40cm tall model pictures the launch, complete with launchpad, engineers and a display plaque to commemorate the day. Turn the lever and watch the mechanism open up the launchpad to release the rocket for liftoff.
